It gives me great joy to launch this new website which is a great achievement for our diocese. COCM is a new vibrant department within the Diocese of Melbourne. It aims to outreach to people who are thirsty for truth and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and His loving message of salvation that He brought to mankind through His suffering, death on the cross and resurrection on the third day.
In the Book of Acts, Saint Luke tells us, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) It is only the Lord Jesus Christ Who can give us salvation and eternal life if we trust in Him and follow His commandments. Saint Peter said to the Lord, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:68-69)
Many in this world have been led astray by false prophets, false teachings and strange cults. COCM aims to bring the light of the Gospel to every person it can through the Christian Orthodox faith handed down to the apostles by the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a faith that has not changed for 2000 years. It is the faith of an authentic apostolic church founded by Saint Mark the evangelist, apostle and martyr. The Church of Alexandria is a conservative church that has suffered severe persecution and has produced some of the greatest heroes of the Christian faith that the world has ever known. Heroes such as Saint Athanasius the Apostolic the writer of the Creed which is prayed by all Christians all around the world till this day and Saint Cyril of Alexandria who protected the Universal Church from the heresy of Nestorius at the Third Ecumenical Council in Ephesus in 431 AD. It is the Church of the Martyrs, it is the Church where monasticism was founded in the third century. It is an ancient holy Church full of God’s Spirit and is alive through its life giving sacraments.
COCM aims to share this powerful faith and witness with those that have not heard the message of Christ or have been led astray with false teachings and prophecies. It also aims to work with those who have strayed from the flock and have been led astray by the god of this world Satan and have become preoccupied in the whirlpool of life. This is our hope and goal and we pray that we can glorify God’s name through the mission of COCM.
On this website you will find a wealth of information on the work of COCM including news and upcoming events, a multimedia section including video clips of recent missions to the South Pacific, mission sermons in the audio sections and new publications of great value. You will also learn about how you can assist and share in the great task ahead of us that God has called us to and how you can become a missionary. As you are aware that mission work is a difficult task and yet a very fulfilling one to know that someone has come to be in fellowship with the Lord, and of course it needs much financial resources and so I encourage you to support this ministry through the donations section on our website.
The COCM department is run by a vibrant and spiritual team of volunteers who are mainly youth workers within the diocese. They have great zeal and love to preach the Word of God to every creature and have done great work to establish this vital ministry within the diocese for which I thank them dearly.
I hope you enjoy your visit to our new COCM website and I look forward to receiving your comments for any suggestions you may have of how we can expand this ministry. God bless you all.
